Accessible housing options are a priority for new and existing residents throughout San Antonio, regardless of income, according to City Councilman Manny Pelaez (D8). San Antonio is projected to grow by more than 1 million new residents by 2040, and they’re going to come “from every walk of life.” Luxury apartments are going to be “part of the solution.”

Infinity at the Rim is a 310-unit apartment residence that delivers Hill Country views, luxe amenities, and a high-tech lifestyle, providing an exciting new luxury rental option in San Antonio’s changing landscape.

Local development and growth

Infinity’s location within The Rim – a large mixed-use development with entertainment venues, local restaurants, and shopping destinations – has made the area a desirable place to live, work, and play.

Infinity – managed by Greystar, a multi-family real estate company – has successfully leased 46 percent of its units – largely to young professionals – since it opened in December 2017.

Located at the highest point of the Rim, Infinity allows residents to easily visit local attractions like Six Flags Fiesta Texas, The Rustic, and The Shops at La Cantera. Those who work for major employers like USAA, Security Service Federal Credit Union, and UTSA can expect shorter commute times, even with the area’s heavy congestion along Interstate 10.

“Infinity at the Rim reflects a new generation in San Antonio – about 60 percent of our residents are from San Antonio, while 40 percent are from out-of-state,” said Tom Lumley, community manager for Infinity at the Rim. New, young families in the area are defining and changing the expectations for rental living in San Antonio.

Design for a new generation in San Antonio

As Infinity at the Rim “grows, our goal is to encompass resident events and find out what new residents want from multi-family apartments, and what they want to see from us,” Lumley said.

Today, renters are looking for a unique, engaging community that allows them to customize their living space. The mid-rise’s luxury apartment homes span from studio to three-bedroom floor plans, in addition to exclusive townhome options, and cost between $1,150 and $3,235 per month. All homes feature the same amenities – generous closet space with built-in shelving and storage, quartz countertops, and small top-of-the line refrigerators for wine and beverages.

Infinity developed its environmentally-friendly layouts using energy-efficient design and organic materials, LED in-unit lighting, and stainless steel Energy Star appliances, with recycling destinations available on each floor.

“Residents can build their own [technology and smart home] packages,” Lumley said. “It’s really exciting to see.”

Customized experiences and amenities

San Antonio was a different city when Infinity resident William Guy, 34, arrived in 2014.

“[My fiancée and I] moved from downtown Detroit – and we loved downtown living – to San Antonio in a time when [the city] didn’t have a great downtown area,” he said. The couple settled in northwest San Antonio, near Guy’s internship at UT Health San Antonio, but “now that the downtown real estate prices are on the rise, we’re pretty happy that we stayed where we are.”

Convenience and proximity are important to many San Antonians, but more young professionals like Guy are looking for the newest and best amenities in apartment living. “My fiancé and I are kind of addicted to [what’s] new,” he said.

At Infinity at the Rim, “the views are better and the technology is more up-to-date compared to other living options. Our Nest thermostat prevents [bill overages] like we had at our last place – It’s really about all the enhanced amenities.”

The luxe apartment units also feature state-of-the art Amazon Echo Dot technology, built-in speakers, USB wall ports for convenient charging, and 24-hour lockers, which allow residents to pick up packages at any time.

Infinity at the Rim management hosts weekly mixers in the building’s communal areas, which invite residents to enjoy the free coffee bar, check out the demo kitchen, play virtual and outdoor games, or take in the area’s natural scenery from the rooftop lounge.

There are many amenity-driven developments being built throughout San Antonio, “but the Rim offers a little more local flavor and flair,” Guy said.

Community and quality of life

Heather Davis, mother to a 12-year-old daughter and three-year-old son, moved her family to the Infinity at the Rim development in March. The 42-year-old, who recently finalized her divorce and sold the family’s Sonoma Ranch home, knew she wanted to leave the suburbs and relocate to The Rim.

“It’s where my daughter goes to school, where my son goes to daycare, and it’s just the bubble I’m used to [being in],” she said. “I was looking for an environment where I could just walk to a restaurant or the shopping center and get that sense of community, and Infinity had that.”

Outside of commuting to and from her job at Circle K headquarters, Davis says she rarely uses her car away from work.

“We walk everywhere,” she said. Infinity’s ideal location means Davis can easily meet, shop, and dine with family and friends at The Rim without a vehicle.

Infinity’s high-tech, indoor fitness center and open spaces make it easy for residents to stay active. The family often swims at the infinity edge pool, plays virtual and outdoor sports like ping pong and bocce ball, while Davis takes advantage of the high-tech gym and on-demand fitness classes that allow her to exercise around her busy schedule.

Convenience and community are key elements of daily life at Infinity at the Rim, even for family pets, Davis said. Dogs are encouraged to play and socialize at the on-site dog park or stop by the jar of treats kept in the mail room.

“Everything here is so easy, and it just makes you feel good,” she said.

Investing in traffic solutions

Rapid population and economic growth in northwest San Antonio has overwhelmed nearby highways, and traffic has become a serious issue among residents. According to the Texas Department of Transportation, traffic along I-10 is projected to increase approximately 40 percent by 2040.

City officials and local leaders have begun looking for strategies that use innovation and technology – particularly smart infrastructure – to help manage traffic and improve driving conditions along I-10, and Infinity at the Rim hopes to be part of the area’s solution.

While the Northwest area is expected to become a testing ground for autonomous vehicles in the next year or two, Infinity at the Rim has begun providing resident access to environmentally-friendly car charging stations, and the staff expects to introduce a shuttle service for its residents in the near future.

“Infinity at The Rim Luxe Community really stands out and offers something different from [other] communities in San Antonio,” Lumley said. “It’s exciting to see how much the area has flourished recently, and how we are becoming part of it.”
